　從1995年到2011年，台研會與「北美洲台灣研究學會」在美國，共同舉辦了十七屆「北美洲台灣研究年會」（以下簡稱：NATSC），不僅將「台灣研究」推向世界，更從全球觀點省視台灣的發展與未來。

　NATSC主要是由留學海外、特別是以留學美國為主的博士班研究生所催生的會議。一如「新生代論文研討會」的性質一樣，NATSC年度性的主題、主持人、撰稿人、與談人等，則是完全由博士生自行擬定、規劃和安排。他們遠在天邊，又分散各地，首先僅能經由個人關係，踏出年會的第一步，繼又經由網路，逐步探索出制度性的連結，終於克服疆界上的困難。十七屆下來，發表的論文超過五百多篇，參與者更達一千四百人左右。當「台灣研究」在國際相對弱勢的背景下，NATSC不但扮演了「提供園地、尊重知識、探索真理」的平台，而許多NATSC的與會者現今不少已是政府機關的成員或學術單位中的研究員、教授等，在不同領域中發光發熱。
